Lending in Spain
More and more clients are looking to purchase a property in Spain with the aid of a mortgage. In most cases this is an extremely beneficial thing to do as it helps in the calculation of any Inheritance Tax payment should the worst happen.
Spanish lenders historically will lend 70% of the valuation to non-Residents while others will lend 80%. Please note this lending is based on the valuation price of the property or with some banks on the purchase price.

Lenders in Spain are now able to offer Interest Only mortgages with the term of the Interest Only ranging from 1 year up to 10 years and more. This is always an attractive proposition when taking up ownership of the property as it keeps the initial repayments down.
Please be aware that mortgages cannot be taken out on a property which has not yet been built.
